*Footnotes:

[1]Achievement and Performance levels are assigned each school year based on state tests conducted in the previous school year. On this website, the achievement and performance levels are shown for the school year in which the tests were conducted, since the tests presumably measure the success of the students for that year. This allows the outcomes (test scores) to be measured against the inputs (teachers, spending, etc.) for the same year.

[2]Avg Achievement Scores and Avg Performance Scores for districts and for the state were calculated by MCPP as weighted averages as follows: Attendance at a school multiplied by that school's achievement (or performance) score = Total "points". That total is added to the "points" for other schools that were given achievement (or performance) scores, resulting in a "total points" sum for the district. Those total points are then divided by the total attendance at schools that were given scores. The result is the average score for the district. The same formula, substituting "state" for "district" in the description above, was used to arrive at the state average achievement (and performance) scores.
